OIC Secretary General to Visit Tajikistan and Kazakhstan


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Jeddah October 24 (QNA) - The Secretary General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Iyad Ameen Madani will pay his first two official visits to OIC Member States in the Central Asia: the Republic of Tajikistan and the Republic of Kazakhstan starting on Sunday 25 October 2014 and aiming to foster relations between the OIC and countries of this region.



OIC Secretary General will lead the OIC delegation to the First investment Forum of the OIC Plan of Action for Cooperation with Central Asia which opens in Dushanbe Tajikistan on 27 October 2014.



The Secretary General's address at the opening of the Forum is expected to dwell principally on the invitation to the Public and Private Sector establishments of the OIC Member States to invest in Central Asia as a means of promoting socio-economic integration in the countries of the region. H.E. Imomali Rakhmon President of the Republic of Tajikistan will inaugurate the Forum.



During his visit the Secretary General will hold audiences with key government and civil society operatives on the ways of promoting bilateral relations between the OIC and Tajikistan according to a statement issued by OIC.

During the second leg of his visit which takes him to Kazakhstan the Secretary General will hold interactive sessions with members of the academia and major civil society institutions in Almaty on the role of OIC in promoting socio-cultural relations and development within the OIC community.



In Astana the Secretary General will hold official discussions with the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan and top government officials centering on the pivotal role of Kazakhstan in contributing to the various programmes and activities of the OIC. Discussions will include the modalities for the consolidation of structures of a new OIC specialized institution for food security namely Islamic Organisation for Food Security headquartered in Astana.
