UAE- Mastermind behind Edhi Centre heist arrested


(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) The arrest of the man in his 30s whose name was not disclosed by the authorities was made from Mauripur area during a raid.

Islamabad: Karachi police on Monday claimed to have arrested the mastermind behind Sunday’s heist at Edhi Centre headquarters which lost millions. The arrest of the man in his 30’s whose name was not disclosed by the authorities was made from Mauripur area during a raid. Police have also expedited search for his accomplices involved in the crime.



Edhi Trust running a network of philanthropic service across the country is nationally and internationally recognised for its social work under renowned social worker Abdul Sattar Edhi who was sleeping at the centre when the dacoits came.



His son Faisal Edhi had informed that robbers broke the locks of safe chest and took away cash and valuables.



The looted money comprised Rs20 million in local and foreign currencies whereas other valuable items including four kg gold worth Rs30 million were said to be donated by people to the trust for sake of public welfare.



Police had announced a reward of Rs1 million for information about the dacoits.
