(MENAFN- Arab News) This is with reference to the article 'Shift in US public discourse on ME' (Sept. 29) by Jamal Doumani. It is very true that with the advent of social media things have started to change across the world. It is not exclusive to the United States. It is a known fact that the mainstream western media is owned by pro-Israel elements due to which the world particularly the West remained in dark over Israeli atrocities. However gone are the days when Israel used to play the role of a victim.

The Boycott Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) campaign against Israel is a testimony to the fact that the true face of Israel is gradually being exposed. Social media is playing a crucial role in this regard.

This calls for a comprehensive media campaign to be launched by the Arab world highlighting the Israeli crimes against Palestinians. The Arab world has the means and the required talent to launch world-class news channels and promote the cause through social media. They should not leave any stone unturned to expose Israel and to counter the pro-Israel propaganda. Faiza Idrees Dammam
