20 members 'working against Haia'
(MENAFN- Arab News) The President of the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice (Haia) Abdullatif Al-Asheikh has accused 20 members of the organization of working against him. However he believes that he can easily remove them from the organization according to a media report.
Al-Asheikh said he has powers that are not available to Cabinet ministers.
He said action was taken recently against Haia members who attacked a British citizen and his Saudi wife without considering the nationality of the victims. The decision was taken based on the facts of the case. He said the disciplinary action against the four guilty members would not be reversed. He added that there is a plan to monitor the work of the members through surveillance cameras.
He said several Haia members are taking English lessons. He said no discussion was taking place to turn the Haia into a ministry.
