Germany to Send 70 Million Euros Worth of Arms to Kurdish Fighters


(MENAFN- QNA) Germany is sending arms worth 70 million euros to Kurdish fighters in northern Iraq as Berlin steps up its effort to help in the international drive to stop the advance of the Islamic State terrorist group.

German Defense Minister Ursula von der Leyen accused the Islamic State of merciless brutality, German news agency DPA reported today. The news agency added that Germany will dispatch following the decision by Chancellor Angela Merkel's cabinet to send the military equipment.

She accused the Islamic State of "merciless brutality," saying Germany would dispatch 500 anti-tank missiles along with 8,000 assault weapons and 40 machine guns to the Kurds. Germany will also send 50 million Euro in humanitarian aid.
