China's Manufacturing Activity Lower in August


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Beijing August 21 (QNA) - China's factory activity fell to a three-month low in August a survey showed on Thursday. The HSBC Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) was registered at 50.3 lower than the expected reading of 51.5. The reading for July was at 51.7. The decline raises more questions over the state of the Chinese economy. China's stock market Shanghai Composite Index fell 0.4% after the news. Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index fell by the same amount.
