Britain urges peaceful solution for Pakistan political dispute

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Britain on Tuesday urged political parties in Pakistan to work together, in line with the constitution for a peaceful solution to the political differences in the country.

"The UK and Pakistan have deep and extensive ties. We strongly support a democratic Pakistan and the use of democratic institutions to resolve political disputes," said Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond following ongoing political protests in Islamabad. "I hope that all parties in Pakistan can work together under the Constitution to peacefully resolve current political differences," he added.

Thousands of Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) supporters gathered in Islamabad to protest alleged vote rigging in 2013 elections, and to demand election and administrative reforms.

Two days ago, PTI leader Imran Khan declared civil disobedience against the government urging people not to pay electricity or fuel bills till Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif steps down.
