Ban Calls for Investigation into Israel's Shelling of UN Facilities in Gaza
(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) New York August 13 (QNA) - UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon called for an investigating into the frequent Israeli shelling of UN facilities which shelter civilians in Gaza strip. In a press conference the UN Secretary General expressed hope to reach a durable ceasefire between Israel and Palestinians saying "the most recent ceasefire brokered by Egypt appears to be holding. But that is not enough." Ban demanded to use the recent truce to meet urgent humanitarian needs and said "the toll of death and destruction is staggering." Frequent Israeli shelling on large number of UNRWA schools in Gaza strip resulted in the martyrdom of dozens of Palestinians and hundreds wounded. (QNA)
