Saudi: 3 brothers jailed for attacking Haia officials

(MENAFN- Arab News) Court in Makkah has sentenced three brothers and their sister to 14 months in prison and 110 lashes for attacking the staff of the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice local media said.

The commission staff had reportedly spotted one of the brothers in an inappropriate situation with a girl who was not legally related to him in Sabhani district.

The man was given six months and 50 lashes for being with the girl in an illegal way and resisting the commission staff the second brother was given four months and 25 lashes for resisting commission men and misleading governmental and judicial bodies the third brother was given three months and 25 lashes for resistance and their sister was given one month and 10 lashes for fraud and deception as she tried to change the course of the case.

Upon seeing the commission staff the first suspect called his brothers and sister for help who came and orchestrated a quarrel with the commission staff a matter which allowed the girl to escape from the scene.
