Belgium calls for restraint and calm in Middle East

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Belgian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Didier Reynders Wednesday voiced concern over the deterioration of the situation in Israel and the Gaza Strip.

In a statement, he "strongly condemned" the rocket attacks by armed groups aimed at Israeli civilians and "regretted" Palestinian civilian casualties following Israeli military operations.

Reynders called on all parties to the maximum restraint to avoid victims and restore calm.

A cease-fire must be put in place to stop the spiral of violence that will bring neither peace nor security for Palestinians and Israelis, he added.
