Egypt's pres. to receive monthly payment of USD 6,000

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Egyptian Interim President Adly Mansour on Sunday approved a decree setting the monthly income of the head of state at EGP 42,000 (some USD 6,000). The figure includes EGP 21,000 in monthly salary and an equivalent sum in allowance for representation, according to the decree which amended the law of 1987 on presidential appropriations. The decree is based on a cabinet debate on the issue in the light of the new constitution, issued on January 18, Presidential spokesman Ehab Badawi told reporters. The cabinet noted that radical economic and political changes took place since the adoption of the law of 1987 which set the monthly salary of the head of state at EGP 12,000 and a similar allowance for representation, he noted. The new amendment of the law takes force as of the day that follows its publication in the official gazette, Badawi added.
