Consumer Protection Department Seizes Counterfeit Cosmetics


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) ha April 14 - The Consumer Protection Department at the Ministry of Economy and Trade announced today the seizure of quantities of counterfeit cosmetics to a global brand during an inspection tour of one of the shops in the country. The examination of samples of the seized cosmetics proved that all those samples are counterfeit and thus the Department seized all the quantities until the completion of procedures for the violation and the destruction of the seized goods pursuant to Article No. (7) of Law No. (8) of 2008 on the protection of the consumer which criminalize the sale and promotion of counterfeit materials to trademarks. The Consumer Protection Department frequently organizes training workshops for the inspectors in cooperation with brand owners on how to distinguish between original and counterfeit goods in an effort to curb the spread of counterfeit goods. The inspection campaigns come as part of the Department's efforts to protect the rights of consumers and the Ministry's continuous monitor of the markets and the economic activity in the state to apply Law No. (8) of 2008 and the ministerial decisions governing the work of the Consumer Protection Department
