Mayer held serve comfortably during the third and broke at the perfect time, taking Robredo's serve to love in the ninth game



Awaiting Mayer in the last eight is the winner of the clash between Spaniard Daniel Gimeno-Traver and Zeballos



Zeballos stunned world number one Rafael Nadal in last year's final and had few problems getting past Chilean wildcard Gonzalo Lama 6-3 6-3 in their first-round clash



Spanish fourth seed Granollers was upset by Colombian Santiago Giraldo, who battled to a 7-6 (9-7) 7-6 (7-2) victory in their second-round encounter



Giraldo served 11 aces and saved two set points € both in the opening set € to set up a meeting with Guillermo Garcia-Lopez



Spanish seventh seed Garcia-Lopez avoided an upset loss, overcoming Italian Paolo Lorenzi 3-6 7-5 6-4 at the ATP 250 event



In the day's other first-round match, French fifth seed Jeremy Chardy was too good for Chilean teenager and wildcard Christian Garin 7-5 6-0
