Volvo Trucks to build on strong Saudi demand
(MENAFN-Arab News) The demand for Volvo Trucks has been increasing in the Kingdom hence Volvo management is giving prime importance for Saudi Arabia as it is one of the biggest market in the region, according to Volvo Trucks Middle East president Lars-Erik Forsbergh
Talking to Arab News on the sidelines of the launch of new trucks for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, Forsbergh revealed that they are going to scale up the operation in KSA
“Once our factory completes, which is being built in King Abdulla Economic City, we will be able to deliver more trucks. Now the demand is high and our present factory in KSA has not enough capacity to meet the order,” he said
“We have been active in the Kingdom for the last 30 years and we are producing the trucks from Saudi Arabia for its local market,” he added
“When we start our operation from King Abdulla Economic City, we will be able to deliver at least 4,000 trucks in a year from Saudi factory,” said Forsbergh
“So much is happening in the region and we want to take an important role in region’s transport sector. We will be focusing more on heavy-premium truck segment. Since the UAE is preparing for Expo2020, we also expect huge orders from the UAE,” he added
“We have total transport solution for the region,” he told Arab New
The unveiling of new Volvo trucks, the biggest truck launch ever held in the MENA region, took place in Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi. The Swedish manufacturer is introducing three completely overhauled models to the market: the Volvo FM, the Volvo FMX, and the Volvo FH
“We don’t launch trucks that often, but when we do it, we do it really big,” Lars-Erik Forsbergh said during his presentation at the media launch
With its new range, Volvo Trucks is pushing the envelope for what a premium truck manufacturer can offer, with all three models offering the highest standards of reliability, handling, timesaving features, fuel-efficiency, safety and driver comfort
“The Middle East is an extremely important market for Volvo Trucks — indeed, the FMX has been extensively tested in Oman and Saudi Arabia to ensure that it can tackle some of the roughest, most demanding, off road conditions in the world. So we are confident that the new Volvo Trucks range will provide an unbeatable transport solution for customers right across this region, whatever their specific needs.
“This truck goes everywhere,” Forsbergh said.
“It has been tested in Oman, in Saudi Arabia — in the roughest, most demanding off-road conditions you can imagine.
The new range of Volvo Trucks exhibited in Abu Dhabi is the most advanced, introducing a whole raft of innovative features to the market. These include the ground-breaking Volvo Dynamic Steering, which delivers exceptional handling — pretty much like a car’s – in all operating conditions, as well as intelligent I-Shift gearbox technology
The Volvo FH has been Volvo Trucks’ flagship model for almost 20 years, accounting for more than 60% of total sales, and the new model is already setting the world alight, having been named International Truck of the Year 2014
The new Volvo FM is a real all-rounder, the best truck in its class on the market. Taking reliability and productivity to the extreme, it is designed to provide the perfect platform for bodybuilders to customize it for any job
Rounding off the trio of newcomers, the even more robust Volvo FMX construction truck is loaded with new features, such as an advanced rear air suspension, that benefit haulers as well as drivers.
At the launch, it was announced that Middle East customers would be offered a training package specially designed for construction drivers.
