(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Governor of Baghdad Ali Tamimi today escaped an assassination attempt at Al Baladiyat (municipalities) area in eastern Baghdad.
A security source said that an armed group opened fire at the convoy of Al-Tamimi when returning from an inspection visit to a number of areas affected by floods due to rain in eastern Baghdad, adding that he was not hurt bit five bystanders were injured as a result of the attack
In a separate incident, two Iraqi soldiers were killed today in an armed attack on their home in Yusifiyah, south of Baghdad
Police said a group of three unidentified gunmen wearing military uniforms stormed a house in the village of Arab Jassim in Yusifya, south of Baghdad, led two brothers who are army soldiers and shot them dead.
