Oman's State Council chairman returns from Jordan visit


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Dr Yahya bin Mahfoudh al Manthri, chairman of the State Council and his delegation returned from their official visit to Jordan on Thursday.

The five-day visit followed an invitation by the speaker of the Jordanian senate. The delegation included several members of the council.

During his visit, Manthri met His Majesty King Abdullah II of Jordan. He extended greetings from His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said to King Abdullah II and the people of Jordan, and wished them further progress and prosperity.

King Abdullah II confirmed the deep-rooted relations between the two nations and said that the keenness of the leaders of the two nations strengthens the commitment to serve the interests of both sides, particularly the legislative and parliamentary fields.

The delegation met Dr Abdullah al Nusoor, Jordanian Prime Minister and Minister of Defence on November 4. It also held meetings with Abdul Raouf al Rawabdah, president of the Jordanian senate, H E Nasser Judeh, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs, as well as Atef al Tarawneh, deputy speaker, House of Representatives of Jordan.

During the meetings, both sides discussed ways to enhance bilateral relations in parliamentary and legislative spheres and in other areas. Manthri and his delegation were received at Muscat International Airport by Dr Khalid bin Salim al Saeedi, secretary general of the State Council and other officials.
