Veteran Pakistani diplomat praises Oman's governance

(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Veteran Pakistani diplomat Shaharyar Mohammad Khan said that Oman's governance is a good example for other countries to follow.

''There is no corruption in Oman and clean living is something to cherish. I have deep appreciation for His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said and all his people,'' said Khan.

Khan, former chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), is in Oman for the launch of his book Cricket Cauldron: The Turbulent Politics of Sport in Pakistan.

Khan said his book is not about cricket but 'a view of Pakistan through the eyes of cricket'.

''Apart from cricket, the book is about Pakistan and its civil and military issues, its diplomatic engagements, India-Pakistan relations and religiosity,'' he said.

The book also tackles major controversies associated with the game in recent times and has personal anecdotes, he added.

On what cricket can do to improve India-Pakistan relations, Khan said, ''Cricket is now a game owned by every one, unlike in the past.

''It knows no boundaries, and so much can be done through cricket that makes illegal profits. There is sea of corrupt people, be it in politics, economic or religion.
