UAE- Four women arrested for practising sorcery
(MENAFN- Arab News) Four Arab women expatriates have been arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of Ras Al Khaimah Police for allegedly practising witchcraft and sorcery to lure men and exploit them financially, according to the Ras Al Khaimah Police website.
The arrest was announced at a Press briefing addressed by Colonel Salem Sultan Al Darmaki, Director of Ras Al Khaimah CID, on Thursday.
The conference was attended by Lieutenant Colonel Dr Hamad Ali Al Dabani, Head of Investigations Section, Captain Thair Mohammed Al Najjar, Director of Press and Publishing divison, and all media reporters.
According to Colonel Al Darmaki an Arab woman had informed the police that her compatriot lady was practising magic, sorcery and exploiting men financially. She also told the police that the woman was also an illegal resident.
The alleged woman was practising the unlawful activities in her flat at a residential building in Ras Al Khaimah, Colonel Darmaki quoted the complainant as saying.
Acting on the information received, the police, in coordination with the complainant, fixed an appointment with the accused, deciding to catch her red handed, he said, noting that all legal measures were taken to apprehend the accused.
"The appointment was fixed, and the complainant called the accused and informed her about her desire to cast a magic spell on her husband", Colonel Al Darmaki said.
The accused agreed, and fixed an appointment to visit her in her flat to do the job, he said, adding that when the two women met, policemen raided the flat and arrested all those who were involved. Those inside the flat included three Arab women and the complainant, all the women were of the same nationality along with an Emirati man.
Policemen seized a set of herbs and cleaning tools used by the accused in the magical practice. The seized items also included alcohol and facial tissues containing semen of a man, he disclosed.
After interrogation, it appeared that the complainant who provided the police with information about the accused, had previous knowledge of the accused women and their activities, and had reported the matter to the police due to some disputes between them.
The women, however, confessed to have been practising witchcraft and sorcery for long and extracting huge amounts of money from their victims and controlling them.
