UAE- A shocking surprise for man who wed late
(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) A man in his 50s has been sentenced to six months in jail followed by deportation for attempted murder while his wife and her lover have been handed down six months each in prison to be followed by deportation for indulging in a consensual indecent act, being alone in a closed place out of wedlock and for condoning of sins.
According to the court records, the elderly man had come to Abu Dhabi a long time ago to work. Since then, he had devoted his entire life to earn a living and save money until he became rich. He never got married.
On going back to his home country after a long time, he found out his friends had become fathers and grandfathers. Feeling that he had not lived his life fully, he decided to get married and did so. He brought his wife with him when he returned to Abu Dhabi.
After a while, he had a feeling that he was old and his wife, who is younger by over 30 years, had been betraying him with his cousin. He then decided to make sure whether his suspicion had any solid ground.
One morning, he told his wife that he was going to work, but laid in wait for his cousin whom he suspected to be his wife's lover.
An hour later, he entered his house and walked into his bedroom to find, to his surprise, another man sleeping with his wife, not his cousin. He was more puzzled when the wife's lover told him that he was visiting the woman for the first time and that the person who had been having an affair with his wife for long was his cousin.
The elderly man went out and came back holding a knife. Having calmed down by that time, he hit the woman's lover with the knife's handle till the latter fell down and lost consciousness.
The woman's husband was referred to the court on the charge of attempted murder, while she and her lover were charged with a consensual indecent act though the duo denied the charge of committing adultery which should be proved under specific conditions. The woman and her lover were also charged with staying unlawfully alone and condoning of sins.
The court showed mercy on the husband on the grounds that he dealt a blow to his wife's lover with only the knife's handle, which meant that he did not have any intention to kill him. However, the court convicted the woman and her paramour to six months in jail.
