Fishing Zubaidi banned for 45 days in Kuwaiti territorial waters

(MENAFN- Arab Times) Import of fresh, frozen fish allowed: PAAAFR

KUWAIT CITY, June 2: Fishing Zubaidi in the Kuwaiti territorial waters has been banned for 45 days starting from June 1 to July 15 based on the decision of Public Authority for Agricultural Affairs and Fish Resources (PAAAFR), reports Aljarida daily.

The ban has left its impact on the fish markets in Kuwait especially Souk Sharq where Kuwaiti Zubaidi has disappeared and replaced with imported fish. However, PAAAFR's decision allows the import of fresh, chilled and frozen Zubaidi fish during the stipulated period, subject to obtaining prior permission from the authority.

Head of Kuwait Federation of Fishermen Dhaher Al-Sawyyan predicted that the prices of fish will increase due to decrease in supply and that a large numbers of fishermen travel during the ban period, which coincides with the Holy Month of Ramadan, Eid Al-Fitr and the summer season.
