Qatar, Georgia ink MoU on tourism

DOHA: Qatar and Georgia have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on cooperation in tourism sector.

The Memorandum of Understanding has been signed by Hassan Al Ibrahim, Acting Chief of Qatar Tourism Authority, in the presence of Ambassador of Georgia to the State of Qatar Nikoloz Revazishvili, said a statement issued by the Embassy of Georgia.

The MoU envisages active cooperation in the field of tourism by two countries, particularly facilitating cooperation between tour operators and travel agents, encouraging private sector to invest in tourism industry and promoting the development and implementation of joint tourism projects.

Georgia, as a tourist destination, has increased popularity in the State of Qatar. "Non-visa regime and daily direct flights between Doha and Tbilisi contributes to visitor exchange. During the last 5 years the number of tourists from Qatar has doubled every year," the statement said.

It adds that there is increase of Georgian tourists visiting Qatar as well. "The MoU will contribute to further development of cooperation in the field of tourism between the two countries."
