The MoU, which was signed on the sidelines of the Riyadh International book Fair, with the UAE as the guest of honour, is part of the efforts of both parties to benefit from their civilised and traditional heritage, as well as to document the historic legacy of the UAE and Saudi Arabia.
The MoU also aims to strengthen their co-operation in various activities, researching historical archive materials, and digitising documents and facilitating their exchange, according to the laws of both countries.
The MoU will enable the two parties to exchange experts in archiving, exchanging information and organising relevant training programmes, as well as to promote their co-operation through cultural exchange events, such as seminars, conferences, workshops, training and the exchange of archival and historical materials.
The MoU was signed by Dr. Fahad Abdullah Al Samari, Secretary-General of King Abdulaziz Darah, and Dr. Abdullah Mohammed Al Raissi, Director-General of the NA.
Al Samari praised the co-operation between his organisation and the NA and expressed his optimism about the MoU's outcomes while highlighting the importance of training archive specialists from both countries and maintaining and restoring historical documents, as well as sharing successful practices from Saudi Arabia and the UAE with other countries in the region.

The NA has high hopes for the MoU, as it will strengthen their mutual ties and will provide a legal framework that will enable the NA to promote its audio-visual archives around the entire region and attract researchers in the history of the UAE and Saudi Arabia, he said in conclusion.
