Israel closes Hawara checkpoint southern Nablus

(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Ramallah, Jan. 10 (Petra) - Israeli occupation forces on Wednesday blocked Palestinian access out of and into southern of Nablus, by closing the Hawara military checkpoint, Palestinian sources said.

The Israeli occupation troops also closed the road connecting Nablus and Qalqilya barring local citizens from reaching their homes and workplaces.

The Popular Resistance Committees (PRC) said in a statement that citizens were forced to use alternative roads in order to enter the Awarta town then to Beita in order to leave Nablus and reach the center of the West Bank, causing heavy traffic congestion inside the two towns.

The closure came after an Israeli settler was killed near the illegal Jewish settlement of Havat Gilad built in the lands of Jeet village, near Nablus.
