Ex Pakistani leader Musharraf travels to UAE for treatment

(MENAFN- The Journal Of Turkish Weekly) Pakistan’s former military ruler General Pervez Musharraf flew to the United Arab Emirates on Friday following a supreme court verdict allowing him to travel abroad for treatment.

The court on Thursday had ordered the government to lift a three-year ban on Musharraf’s foreign travel.

The former army chief who is reportedly suffering from heart disease flew to Dubai from Karachi’s airport.

Mohammad Amjad secretary general of Musharraf's All Pakistan Muslim League party told reporters that the former military ruler who is facing high treason charges will see his personal physician in Dubai and will eventually move to the U.K. for surgery.

Many see Musharraf's departure as a sigh of relief for Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif as the country's powerful army is not happy with its former chief being on trial.
