Swedish trade talks planned in Riyadh


(MENAFN- Arab News) Swedish Vice Minister for Commerce and Industry Oscar Stenstrom arrives here on Sunday to meet senior officials and discuss modalities for enhancing economic and trade cooperation between the two countries.
'The minister will reach here on May 17 evening and is scheduled to meet Saudi ministers and senior officials next day in order to bolster bilateral ties" Swedish Ambassador in Riyadh Dag Juhlin-Dannfelt told Arab News on Monday.
The minister will roundup his tour of the Kingdom on May 19.
He added that in order to set the agenda for the bilateral meeting that aims to enhance cooperation the two sides are working on subjects of mutual interests.

To this end the envoy said that he also met Abdulrahman Al-Zamil president of Council of Saudi Chambers (CSC) and reviewed bilateral relations with both sides asserting on enhancing economic and trade cooperation.
"We are planning a huge ministerial delegation immediately after Haj to further enhance our ties" he said.
When asked whether a Saudi delegation is visiting Stockholm he said: "Delegates are going in both direction."
He added: "Although the balance of trade is in favor of Sweden exports from the Kingdom is picking up and expected to increase further as a result of projects to diversify the Saudi economy."
Replying to another question he said the opening up of Saudi stock exchange (Tadawul) to international investors is a "good move that will benefit the local market." In this context he said Swedish investors in general and portfolio investors in particular will be interested.
Swedish exports to the Kingdom include high-tech equipment such as telecom products machinery medical products pharmaceuticals automotive food fuels chemical and engineering products clothing and furniture while major Saudi exports to the Scandinavian country include oil and petrochemicals.
Notably Swedish-Saudi relations returned to normal after Sweden expressed regret for the recent offensive remarks by its Foreign Minister Margot Wallstrom against the Saudi laws.
