Qatar- Social Development Center Wins Two Certifications


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Doha April 29 - The Social Development Center (SDC) has won two certifications in international standards the Center said Tuesday.

The Center has received the ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management System and the SA8000:2008 Social Accountability International the highest standards in management systems and ethical sourcing.

These certifications testify its commitment to providing highest level of support and professional services to the Qatari community SDC.

SDC Director General Amal Al Mannai said the certifications testify the Center's commitment to the community.

"SDC has put in place the best international standards for management and ethical sourcing. These measures will improve the services that the center provides to the community. Much hard work has achieved this. As the first NGO to receive these certifications we would like to lead by example." SDC is the first organization in Qatar to be awarded the SA8000:2008 Social Accountability International the new standard to be developed under the auspices of the USA's Council on Economic Priorities Accreditation Agency (CEPAA).

It is the first 'auditable' international standard to cover working practices and is based on Conventions of the International Labour Organization the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.
