Türkiye Hosts 8-Nation Summit, Vows Lead Role on Regional Crises

Date:

(MENAFN) Hakan Fidan, Türkiye’s foreign minister, pledged on Friday that Ankara will keep shouldering responsibility for defusing regional crises, after Istanbul hosted a high-stakes meeting of eight countries.

Writing on NSosyal, a Türkiye-based social media platform, Fidan reflected on the R4 and R4+E3 foreign ministers’ meetings, which were held with the participation of Italy.

According to Fidan, the gathering brought eight nations together to confront interlinked disputes and conflicts shaking both the Middle East and Europe. Participants agreed that such disputes must be settled through dialogue and diplomacy, anchored in the principle of regional ownership, he said.

“We hope that this initiative, which we have spearheaded, will become a lasting mechanism and contribute to peace and stability in our region and beyond. As Türkiye, given our central position between the two regions, we will continue to take responsibility for resolving regional issues,” Fidan said, thanking his counterparts who attended the meeting.
