Türkiye, Qatar, Pakistan, Indonesia Advance Defense Industry Cooperation
(MENAFN) Türkiye, Qatar, Pakistan, and Indonesia are set to sign a memorandum of understanding in Doha aimed at expanding cooperation across their defense industries, according to an announcement by Türkiye’s Defense Industries Secretariat.
The agreement will build on existing joint defense initiatives among the four nations, representing a further move toward broader multilateral collaboration.
Under the secretariat’s coordination, the countries are seeking to expand their cooperation beyond supplying military equipment and platforms. The wider agenda includes joint manufacturing, technology transfers, improved operational compatibility, and closer integration of supply chains.
The secretariat said partnerships in the defense sector, supported by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, form an important component of Türkiye’s foreign policy strategy. It also noted that initiatives aimed at increasing production capacity and boosting exports have accelerated under secretariat chief Haluk Gorgun.
Defense Exports Accelerate In Recent Years
Türkiye’s defense and aerospace industries generated approximately $54 billion in exports between 2012 and the first nine months of 2026, according to the Defense and Aerospace Industry Exporters’ Association.
More than $30 billion of these exports occurred between 2023 and 2026. This means the most recent four-year period represented over 55% of the sector’s total exports recorded across the broader timeframe.
