Türkiye's Fergani Launches 6th Satellite, 590 km Up in 63 Minutes

Date:

(MENAFN) Türkiye's space ambitions advanced another step as Fergani Space Technologies put its sixth test satellite, FRG-100D4, into orbit aboard SpaceX’s Bandwagon-5 mission, according to manufacturer Baykar.

The spacecraft detached from its launch vehicle roughly 63 minutes after liftoff. It reached its target orbit of 590 kilometers (367 miles) at 3.07 pm local time, Baykar said in a statement.

Selcuk Bayraktar, Baykar’s chairman and technology leader, founded Fergani, which built the satellite using Turkish engineering capabilities.

The company said FRG-100D4 carries multiple technological upgrades over the satellites it has launched before.

The satellite’s domestically developed hardware includes:

a reaction wheel
a magnetic torque rod
a magnetometer
an inertial measurement unit (IMU)
a Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) receiver
steerable solar panels
a battery pack
a regenerative modem
a phased-array antenna

It also carries an artificial intelligence-powered computer built to support more advanced missions.
