Türkiye's Auto Exports Smash Records in 2026
(MENAFN) Türkiye's automotive manufacturing sector achieved an unprecedented milestone last month, shipping $3.06 billion worth of vehicles and components abroad—the strongest January performance in the nation's history, Turkish Exporters' Assembly (TIM) figures reveal.
The 2026 opening month marks a 2.2% year-over-year surge, propelled by reinvigorated European purchasing activity and strengthening international market appetite. Automotive products now command 17.4% of the country's entire export portfolio.
Year-over-year data from TIM illustrates consistent expansion: January shipments climbed from $2.26 billion in 2021 to $2.23 billion in 2022, $2.7 billion in 2023, $2.8 billion in 2024, and $3 billion in 2025. The sector generated $41.5 billion throughout 2025, according to the assembly's records.
Germany emerged as the dominant destination, absorbing $490 million in Turkish automotive goods during January 2026. France secured second position at $311 million, trailed by Spain ($291.7 million), the United Kingdom ($283.3 million), and Italy ($267.9 million).
Poland registered the most dramatic growth trajectory, with shipments jumping $58.7 million to reach $177.5 million total. Italy followed with a $36.5 million increase, Spain added $36.2 million, Germany expanded by $28.2 million, and Austria grew $19.3 million to $44.8 million overall.
Geographically, Kocaeli province in northwestern Türkiye dominated production exports at $828.6 million. Istanbul followed at $664.6 million, while Bursa and Sakarya contributed $588.5 million and $504.3 million respectively. The capital Ankara rounded out the top five with $126.7 million in automotive shipments.
