Jordan, Türkiye Agree To Establish Joint Phosphoric Acid Factory In Aqaba

(MENAFN- Famagusta Gazette) The Jordan Phosphate Mines Company (JPMC) and Turkish Transpet Petroleum and Energy Company signed a deal on Tuesday to establish a joint factory for manufacturing phosphoric acid in the kingdom's coastal city of Aqaba, the state-run Petra news agency reported.

The joint project, costing 400 million U.S. dollars, is expected to hold a production capacity of up to 300,000 tonnes per year, representing one of the largest Turkish-Jordanian investments in the phosphate and phosphate fertilizer sector, it added.

JPMC Chairman Muhammad Thneibat underscored at the signing ceremony at the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA) the importance of the new agreement and cooperation with their Turkish counterpart, which would offer hundreds of job opportunities while constructing the factory during the next 3 years.

For his part, Turkish Transpet Petroleum and Energy Company Chairman Ramazan Ostruk praised the partnership between the two sides as well as Jordan's phosphate fertilizer industry, especially JPMC's role and achievements including notable growth in production and sales. ■
