Military operation in N. Iraq aims to ensure Turkey security - pres.


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) ANKARA, April 20 (KUNA) -- Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Wednesday that the military operation launched by Turkish forces in northern Iraq aims to ensure Turkey's security and cleanse Iraqi lands of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK).
Erdogan was quoted by Anadolu news agency as telling parliament that 'terrorist organizations' can no longer carry out any work inside Turkey because the security authorities have largely prevented infiltration and escape across the border.
Erdogan explained that the Turkish Armed Forces added a new operation to its operations to clear the areas occupied by the (PKK) in northern Iraq, according to Anadolu.
The Turkish leader stressed that Turkey, through its military operations, does not covet the territory of any country but rather aims to ensure the security of its borders and the stability of its neighbors. (end)
