(MENAFN) A Turkish national went lost when a blaze started on a ship from Greece to Italy on Friday morning.

According to Turkey's Consul General in Athens, Mustafa Somuncu "We are in contact with the Greek Coast Guard, the hospital, and the Greek Police to determine his fate. I hope he is well."

Somuncu stated temporary passports are going to be delivered to residents whose passports are lost and all residents are going to be moved to Istanbul.

The Italian-flagged Euroferry Olympia left Greece’s western port of Igoumenitsa, and went to the Italian port of Brindisi, a trip of almost nine hours.

The blaze which the reason behind it is not found yet, happened close to the island of Corfu in the Ionian Sea.

The ID of 278 people was made and sent to Corfu Island, while more than 11 people, as well as three Greek residents, went lost, the latest data from the coast guard announced.
