UN states ‘Mounting evidence’ of immigrant pushbacks from Greece to Turkey


(MENAFN) A UN Human Rights office presenter announced that her organization is having “mounting evidence” of pushbacks of refuge searchers from Greece to Turkey during latest times.

During a UN press meeting, UN High Official for Human Rights presenter Marta Hurtado “Push backs are illegal under international law and should not happen.”

She added “Every person, every migrant, trying to cross an international border has the right of an individual assessment.”

Hurtado answered a query by Anadolu Agency regarding the pushbacks, that her organization is now contacting with the EU.

She went on to state “For a few months, we’ve been trying to confirm and see what the EU should do to stop the undertaking of these pushbacks on the external borders.”
