Turkey criticizes Greek Cyprus' defeat of Ataturk in past textbook
(MENAFN) Turkey "strongly condemned" an order by the Greek Cypriot government for English teachers to extirpate a page in a textbook marking the creator of the Turkish Republic, Mustafa Kemal Ataturk.
According to a Turkish Foreign Ministry statement, The Greek Cypriot government's recent contentious change "reveals the radical level of the distorted mentality" against Turkey and Turkish Cyprus.
It also stated "We strongly condemn this anachronistic, hostile and unacceptable attitude of the Greek Cypriot Administration."
Ankara stated that this recent action "demonstrates that they do not have tolerance not only to share the power and the wealth, but even to live together with the Turkish Cypriots on the Island" while saying how Greek Cyprus for decades stuck the Cyprus problem in a deadlock.
