No discrimination to women - Taliban


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) ISLAMABAD, Aug 17 (KUNA) -- A Taliban spokesperson for Afghanistan, Zabihullah Mujahid in his first press conference after taking over Afghanistan's capital city Kabul on Tuesday announced that there will be no discrimination with the women in Taliban rule.
In his first press conference televised live in Kabul, Mujahid said that women will be allowed to work in many sectors including Health and education sectors.
He assured the international community that there concerns about the women rights will be dealt and there will be no discrimination with the women. However, he mentioned that our women are Muslims and they are happy to live under the framework of Islam.
He expressed hope that as soon as the Afghan conflict is resolved we will build the infrastructure and work on the economy, work with the international community on the economic and natural resources.
He said we request the international community to cooperate economically and we can change the economic status of the country.
He stressed that the media should work on the unity of the nation and not focus on the differences among the nation. He thanked all the media for participating in the conference and giving coverage and announced that they will hold more press conferences in the future.
The insurgents sought no revenge and that "everyone is forgiven", said Mujahid. The statement came at a time when many Afghans were fearing that the Taliban could take revenge.
The spokesperson clearly announced that everyone is forgiven even if they worked with the former government or with foreign governments or forces. To another question about disarming the Afghans, he said that when the political situation changed in the city there could be robberies so we have to stop them.
