Turkeyadds 1,041 more COVID-19 cases


(MENAFN) Based on an announcement delivered by the Turkish Health Minister Fahrettin Koca, a number of 1,041 more patients tested positive for the novel coronavirus in Turkey over the last 24 hours as of Thursday, whereas the national death toll rose by 22 in the meantime.

On a tweet posted on his official account, the minister revealed that with the new figures, the total number of the confirmed COVID-19 infections reached 208,938, while the national toll of lives that have been claimed due to the brutal COIVID-19 pandemic rose to 5,282.

The ministerial statement further included that the combined tally of patients have won the battle against the virus and been accordingly discharged from hospitals amounted to 187,511, with 2,219 reported in the past 24 hours.

The minister also stated that 49,302 tests were carried out over the past day, and the cumulative number of tests jumped to 3,782,520.

Turkey is currently treating 996 patients in intensive care units, with 406 people intubated, Koca noted.
