Rowaida Hakim Exhibits In Carousel Du Louvre Paris

(MENAFN- Editorial) The captivating expressionist works of the self-taught Dubai-based artist Rowaida Hakim will make their first appearance in Paris during Art Shopping, an event from 18-20 October during the 25th edition of Paris –Carrousel Du Louvre. Influenced by the natural world, the desert landscape surrounding her Dubai home, birds and the dreamy night sky as well as the urban structures that make up the modern city of Dubai, Hakim will showcase a mix of previous and current works. These include Confetti, Rain of Grace and Energy. What is crucial to Hakim’s work is to always spread messages of happiness and positivity . “It’s not necessary to have everything in life; being satisfied with what we have is the principle aspect of one’s happiness and these are the emotions that I paint,” says Hakim. “When I paint, my feelings control my brush.” Newer works on display include Colorful Ideas, Untitled colors 1 & 2 and Rain of Grace. These are each painted in the artist’s signature style of expressionistic brushstrokes, bold colors and an incorporation of gold leaf. “I always try and transmit love and positivity through my art,” says Hakim.

The artist’s newer works also include script such as the words courage, determination and power. While each work is made using the same technique, the viewer will notice a new sense of liberation. Included are abstract elements akin to confetti at a party imbued through colorful dots and liberally applied gold leaf.

In a work, painted in a similar manner to an earlier work titled Dubai Nights, she incorporates motivational words into the painting so that the work literally and aesthetically transmits a message of beauty, joy and peace. Similarly, it relays messages of peace, beauty and oneness with nature.
In the painting Colorful Ideas, a splash of scintillating gold leaf joins an explosion of what Hakim calls “happy colors.” It marks a departure of what she calls her previous “party style.” “Now I am focusing on the beautiful ideas of each person, how they are colorful and bright,” she says. “At the same time we show only what we feel is best of us and that’s why we can only see the bubbles of gold in front of the face in this painting.”

In another more serious work titled Rain of Grace, black and gold leaf are the protagonists. “This work symbolizes our relationship to our emotions and happiness through rain,” says Hakim. “The gold rain symbolizes grace and blessings from God. When it rains those rains are valuable because they offer a positive impact on our feelings, washing the soul with grace.”

Hakim’s participation in Le Carrousel du Louvre marks the artist’s first showing in Paris. “I am so excited to exhibit for the first time in Paris,” says Hakim. “Paris has a big space in my heart. It is rich with history, art, love and fashion and has its own special charm and positive ambiance. I have always loved the Louvre museum and Paris so it means so much to me to show my works there.”

Hakim is the owner of several real estate companies in Dubai as well as well a Rowaida Interiors, a high-end design company based in Dubai and specialized in luxury interiors. For years she’s been selling her paintings directly to her interior design clients and collectors . Earlier this year she staged a unique viewing of her work Sotheby’s Dubai marking the first time she showed her paintings to a public audience.
