Trump confirms Perry to step down as Energy Secretary


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) WASHINGTON, Oct 18 (KUNA) -- US President Donald Trump has confirmedresignation of Secretary of Energy Rick Perry.
In remarks to reporters in Texas, late on Thursday, Trump said, "I know Rick has been with me three years .... he's been outstanding."
"Rick has a done a fantastic job in energy. But it was time. three years is a long time," he added.
He noted that Perry will be leaving at the end of the year and that "we already have his replacement."
Last week, House Democrats subpoenaed Perry for documents in the impeachment inquiry during which they wrote to him "recently, public reports have raised questions about any role you may have played in conveying or reinforcing the President's stark message to the Ukrainian President," demanding that he hands over requested documents by October 18.
