Deer antlers smugglers captured in Mongolia

The Mongolian National Police Agency (PLA) has stated on Monday that two men were captured while smuggling 500 Kg of deer antlers to the capital city of Ulan Bator from Khuvsgul region, according to Xinhua.

The NPA said released a statement which said that the two men were stopped last week at the 22nd checkpoint as they passed through the Emeelt road in the capital city's Songinokhairkhan region, 500 Kg of deer antlers was found with them.

The statement also added the case was still undergoing investigation.

A survey taking place in 2006 has showed that there were about 1,980 deers left in Mongolia.

Someone who is charged with hunting and killing instinct wild animals will face a fine of around USD3800 or a 2 years jail time, as the Mongolian law states.
