British Airways suspends flights over Strait of Hormuz
(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) LONDON, June 21 (KUNA) -- British Airways has decided to reroute its flights from and to Asia to avoid the Strait of Hormuz and the Gulf of Oman.
British Airways announced on Friday that it would reroute its flight operations to avert the Strait of Hormuz and the Gulf of Oman for an indefinite period.
The move came after the Iranian military shot down a US drone in the Strait of Hormuz on Thursday, prompting many world airlines to suspend flights over the Strait of Hormuz and Gulf of Oman.
The decision comes following an emergency order issued by the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) earlier Thursday, restricting all US operators from flying in Iranian-controlled airspace over the Strait of Hormuz and Gulf of Oman. (end)
