Qatar University placed 276 in QS Global 2020 Rankings
Qatar University (QU) moved from 332 in the QS World University Ranking in 2019 to 276 in the 2020 ranking, effectively jumping 56 places, and becoming one of the most improved universities.
President of Qatar University Dr. Hassan Al-Derham (pictured) commented on the achievement saying, 'This is a staggering jump and one we are all immensely proud of as it reflects the success of our direction and our strategy.
'We are committed to transforming higher education in Qatar by proactively playing a leading role in shaping and enabling the transformation of the nation's higher education system. We are honored by the recognition that comes along with placements such as this one, which opens up opportunities for our students, faculty and community.
In 2017, QU released a five-year strategy for the years 2018-2022, which mapped out the routes to achieving continuing performance excellence and builds on key areas of education, research, institution and engagement, while taking into consideration the plans and aspirations of Qatar National Vision 2030.
Chief Strategy & Development Officer Dr Darwish Al Emadi commented on QU's continuous progress saying, 'We are immensely proud of our standing in the QS World University Ranking for 2020, which is a testament to QU as a model national university and an educational pioneer that rigorously strives to achieve educational excellence. In a relatively short time we have managed to gain international recognition for our graduate and postgraduate programmes.
