Oman, Romania mark 45 years of diplomatic ties

Monica Gheorghita, state secretary for Global Bilateral Relations and Economic Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania, received at the headquarters of the Romanian Foreign Ministry, Sayyid Badr bin Hamad al Busaidi, secretary general, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on Saturday.





The meeting discussed relations between the two countries and means of promoting them in various areas.

A joint press release was issued to mark the 45 years of establishing diplomatic relations between the countries in which the two sides expressed their intent to expand the relations and strengthen partnership and cooperation at all levels and fields.


The representatives of the two sides decided to develop the relations by continuing regular consultations every two years, or when deemed necessary.


Consultations between the foreign affairs officials will address political, economic, commercial, scientific, technical and cultural aspects.


They also decided to exchange views on bilateral and international issues and corroborate positions on issues of mutual interest within the framework of international law, and deepen the understanding of their respective foreign policies on a wide range of regional and international issues of mutual interest.


Both officials have agreed to continue expanding the cooperation between the embassies of the Sultanate of Oman and Romania in all countries, as well as between the permanent missions of both states to international organisations.


Consultations focused on avenues of cooperation by promoting and supporting the exchange of high-level visits and contacts between the two countries at all government, economic, cultural, scientific and educational institutions, and in the business sector.


The two sides also decided to further promote trade and investment by supporting and enhancing the relationships between the relevant organisations.


The visit of the secretary general of the foreign ministry to Romania included a meeting with the Prime Minister Viorica Dancila, as well as meetings with the ministers of Foreign Affairs, Economy, Business Environment, Commerce and Entrepreneurship, Agriculture and Rural Development, National Education, Health, Culture and National Identity, and other Romanian officials.
