Daesh gang has started to resurface in Libya, UN envoy says
Amman, May 21 (Petra) -- The United Nations envoy for Libya on Tuesday said that the terrorist group of "Daesh" has started to reemerge in Libya and that their banners are fluttering south of the country.
Delivering a briefing to the UN Security council on the latest developments in Libya, Ghassan Salame said that the UN must intervene to end the ongoing bloody conflict in the country, pointing out that the social fabric is deteriorating and hate spreads, which poses the risk of an all-out civil war.
The violence in Tripoli is a prelude to a long and bloody war along the Mediterranean coasts, he warned.
He urged the UN to bring an end to the weapons trafficking to Libya, noting that sophisticated weaponry that are internationally banned have reached all parties in Libya; and that many individuals who are wanted to stand trial are among the fighters of the warring parties in the country.
