FM, Egyptian counterpart discuss coordination on regional issues
Cairo, May 21 (Petra) –– Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi and Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shukri Tuesday held talks on ways to enhance bilateral relations and coordinate positions on regional developments.
The ministers said the two countries are continuing to cement the "brotherly, historic and outstanding" relations between them, and intensify action to explore more prospects to expand cooperation and coordination on regional crises.
The talks focused on the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, a solution to which, based on the two-state formula, international legitimacy resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative constitutes the only avenue to bring about comprehensive peace, they said.
The ministers also reviewed developments related to finding a political solution to the Syrian crisis as well as the situation in Libya and Yemen.
They agreed to continue coordination and consultation to resolve regional conflicts and promote joint Arab action to meet the current challenges, protect Arab national security and safeguard Arab interests.
