Tribal clashes in South Sudan's Boma kill 9
(MENAFN) On Monday, officials stated that as many as nine people were murdered and one in serious condition after a fresh wave of fights between two tribes in South Sudan's eastern region of Boma.
A local official from Boma State informed UN-run Radio Miraya that the fights erupted on May 17 and the situation is still unstable as there is possibility of revenge attacks.
Natabu Abraham, Boma's state minister of local government, informed Radio Miraya, "This was a very big attack. Nine people were confirmed dead and one person critically injured. Herds of cattle where actually taken, and it looks like a coordinated attack".
Parts of eastern South Sudan suffered decades of communal and tribal aggression, mostly related to child kidnapping, cattle theft and rivalry over grazing land.
