CANNES, France - May 19, 2019 -PRLog--Monaco Better World Forum(MBWF) celebrated Ocean Impact Day on May 18, 2019 during the 72nd Festival de Cannes with its Ocean Impact Day Gala.
Monaco Better World Forum Awards 2019
The Ocean Impact Day Gala honored key political and celebrity figures committed to positive ocean action with its Colombe D'or Awards of 2019.
  • The United Arab Emirates was awarded "Country of Honor", for its outstanding commitment to climate action and the country's environmental stewardship over the years. His excellency Dr Thani bin Ahmed al Zeyoudi Minister of Climate Change and Environment was present to accept the award.
  • The "Ocean Conservationist Hero" achievement was posthumously awarded to documentarian Rob Stewart, for his heroic legacy and final film Sharkwater Extinction. His parents and Producers Brian and Sandy Stewart accepted his award.
  • The "Best Commitment" award was given to Umesh Waghdare, Founder and Chairman of Aris Bioenergy.
During the gala dinner awards, 200 of the world's most distinguished and prominent leaders committed to creating positive impact for our oceans, such as Chris Tucker, Kiera Chaplin, Helga Piaget, Jimmy Jean Louis, Alix Bénézech, Michael Graham, and Laurent Lamothe.
The Monaco Better World Forum in partnership with The Chambers Of Ecology and Renewable Energies of Monaco, and Green Cross held its awards gala to celebrate the Country of Honor, United Arab Emirates represented by his Excellency Dr, Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi; the Minister of Climate Change and Environment.
"I created the Monaco Better World Forum in 2015 as a platform to raise awareness around the world's most critical issues," said Manuel Collas De La Roche, Founder and President of of MBWF. "Today we came together to celebrate the beauty and power of the ocean, which connects us all. The time to act for our ocean is now and we must all do our part to save our most precious resource. It is my hope that Ocean Impact Day will be the foundation needed for humanity to come together and for us all to become actors of change and inspiration and make the world a better place."
Better World Coin in 2019
MBWF also announced the launch of the Better World Coin in partnership with SmartBlock Technologies to assist charitable organizations in their fundraising, traceability of donations, data security and reduction of intermediary costs. This innovative platform will facilitate small donations at scale in a secure, transparent fashion, thus helping to attract a new generation of youth to donate to charitable causes and help non-profits become more financially effective. Blockchain technology combined with the use of social media enables global reach, while lowering fundraising costs to a minimum.
