Jordan, Russia agree on political solution in Syria
(MENAFN) Jordanian Foreign Minister, Ayman Safadi and his Russian counterpart, Sergei Lavrov have agreed on the need of a political settlement in Syria.
On Wednesday, Safadi said during a joint press conference with his Russian counterpart in Moscow that the Jordanian border will stay a gateway to support the Syrians, emphasizing that the main issue is to secure Syrian citizens on their land.
The Jordanian minister has also stressed on the need to address the situation in southern Syria as soon as possible, and said "we must help to avoid a humanitarian disaster south of Syria", adding that Jordan will work with Russia with all its power to block the Syrian crisis".
"We want a ceasefire in southern Syria and to prevent a humanitarian crisis" he said.
