Hawatmeh: Jordan capable of countering challenges

(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, Nov. 14 (Petra)-Director General of the Gendarmerie Department, Brig. Gen. Hussein Hawatmeh, said Jordan is capable of countering challenges, thanks to its wise leadership and congruous security network.

The social and political events at the regional and global arenas had their repercussions on the Kingdom and triggered diverse security concerns, namely efforts to combat terrorism and to handle the refugee crisis, he noted at a lecture he delivered at the Royal National Defense College yesterday.

"These challenges prompted the Kingdom to put in place a security strategy to alleviate their impact", he pointed out, adding that sustainable security needs an integrated national partnership among the country's institutions.

Hawatmeh also briefed the attendees on the Gendarmerie's achievements and contributions in various hotspots worldwide, noting its role as "a robust contributor to peacekeeping efforts globally, and incarnates its professionalism and compliance with relevant international security-driven standards".
