The accused, 25-year-old Akash, has been arrested while he was trying to escape.
Here's what happened.
What happened?
Details
Akash was trying to woo Sindhuja, but even after she refused, he kept pestering her.
Sindhuja was eventually forced to quit her job due to his stalking.
When her family started looking for a groom, Akash threatened her.
Yesterday he visited her house and they had an argument. He then brought petrol from his two-wheeler, poured it on her and set her ablaze.
Akash, now arrested, used to stay in the same locality
Action
During the scuffle, a neighbor tried to interfere but couldn't stop Akash. "It all happened in a matter of minutes," they said.
When her mother Renuka and younger sister Nivedhika tried to save her, they got burnt too.
Sindhuja's father works in Dubai.
The family knew Akash as he stayed in the same locality at Saraswathi Nagar. He has now been arrested
